Capsule dispenser
Dosing system for patients with constrained motor function of the hands!

The dosing options for capsules on the market are limited. Although commercially available blisters allow single dosing, they are made of non-recyclable composite material and are often difficult to use. On the other hand, pouring exactly one capsule out of a plastic container or jar is almost impossible.
Our challenge was therefore to find a packaging solution that counteracts these weaknesses: a sustainable dispenser that enables both precise and hygienic single dosing and ingestion of capsules, yet is simple and intuitive to use.
How can the demands of different markets be combined in one system?
Capsules are used in both the pharmaceutical and food supplement sector. However, the two fields of application have different requirements for primary packaging. We wanted to combine these requirements in one packaging system, to ensure maximum benefit for all users.
The PACKSYS capsule dispenser: construction and functionality
The capsule dispenser is a system made of pharmaceutically compliant plastic material, consisting of a capsule reservoir with an actuating mechanism at the top and the dosing cap – snapped on at the bottom. Only one capsule is dispensed per stroke.
Clever all round – advantages of the capsule dispenser
Perfect single dosing and hygienic intake
Only one capsule falls out of the dispenser per stroke. The transparent cup makes it easy to see the number of capsules at any time. There is no over- or underdosing.
The desired quantity is dispensed directly into the cap which at the same time can be used like a cup. For easier handling the cap doesn’t need to be removed to operate the dispenser.
The capsules do not come into contact with the hand at any time, which ensures all-round hygienic intake.

Simple and intuitive use
The force of one finger is sufficient to press the actuator. Since the dispenser is used upright, it can be operated standing on a table. The actuation area is large enough to be pressed with the entire hand, the forearm, the elbow and in many other ways. This provides significant advantages for users with declined motor functions or reduced strength in their hands.

More advantages
- Pharmaceutically approved material
- Mono-material: PP (+ steel spring)
- Easy filling
- Clean room production
- The cylindrical geometry of the container supports machinability and automated filling
- Also suitable for soft capsules with coating
- No secondary packaging necessary
- In hospitals, retirement homes: fast dispensing of capsules for patients
- One-hand operation
- Protection against contamination and environmental impact
- Protection against deformation of the capsule, as they are not exposed to any kind of pressure
Material and production
Mono-material (+ steel spring): All plastic components of the capsule dispenser can be made entirely of PP. We offer clean room production.
Protection against environmental impact
The system is completely self-contained and protects the content against contamination. In addition, unlike blisters, no high pressure is exerted on the capsule, which is why it does not deform or break. The big decoration area provides plenty of space for regulatory and marketing information. There is no need for an additional folding box or leaflet.
