DIN standard for the Snap-on-bottles

For nasal applications of nasal sprays bottles with a snap-on neck becoming increasingly more common. This neck has the advantage that the filling speed at the filling line can be significantly increased and offers the advantage of a tamper-evident seal compared to conventional screw necks.

As more and more drugs are sold without preservatives, this neck finish is imperative.

In order to be able to offer a uniform neck finish design in the future, a project group was founded that is currently working on a new standardization proposal. All well-known pharmaceutical manufacturers of bottles and atomizer pumps work together in this project group. The aim is to develop a uniform series of bottles between 10 and 100 ml for snap-on bottles made of plastic, cottage and tubular glass.

The standardization proposal will be submitted this year and presented to the ISO Committee TC 76 WG2 in China. The ISO standard will then be published in 2 years.
